Intensive Out-Patient Program (IOP)

The Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) typically meets three days a week for two months (three hours per day) and is provided to clients residing at The Cottages on Mountain Creek (in-patient residential treatment program) and our transitional independent living clients, as well as Day Program clients (lunch included).

The IOP is for clients seeking to move forward with their goals. IOP Programs are offered to clients that are stable on their medications and need help regaining access back into society. Intensive Out-Patient groups primarily provide CBT sessions, as well as DBT (as required) and focuses on the following topics:

  • Depression/Anxiety;

  • Coping Skills;

  • Thought Recognition;

  • Relapse Prevention;

  • Self-Esteem and Empowerment;

  • Recognizing Strengths/Personal Growth;

  • Accepting Responsibility for your Actions; and

  • Future Oriented Planning.

Programming Consists of the Following:

  • Group Therapy Sessions (CBT and/or DBT);

  • People Skills, Coping Skills and Relaxation Skills;

  • Management of Symptoms; 

  • Mood Stabilization;

  • Relapse Management; and

  • Program Philosophy.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) emphasizes how we feel and what we do. When your brain is healthy you are in control of how you feel and what you do. Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) addresses treatment regarding emotion regulation, distress, interpersonal effectiveness and mindfulness.

The program is a holistic approach to recovery through exercise, dietary requirements and state-of-the-art programming. The program treats the physical, emotional, cognitive, social and spiritual aspects of life.

At completion of the IOP, a treatment plan provides access to information supportive help as recovery continues (phone numbers, medication information and/or support, etc.).

How to Get Started

A Clinical Social Worker/Licensed Professional Counselor is responsible for completing the biopsychosocial assessment. A treatment plan is then developed with the goal of developing a solid discharge plan. 

Programming is available during the day and evening and/or via Telehealth. Group sessions are limited to 10 to 12 clients. While the program is out-patient, our main campus in Sandy Springs also provides in-patient residential treatment options and transitional independent living options for those seeking a secure living environment.

Sessions are Provided at our Sandy Springs and Buckhead locations as follows:

Monday: 10:00 am – 2:00 pm

Tuesday: 10:00 am – 2:00 pm

Thursday: 10:00 am – 2:00 pm

Lunch included at all Sessions

You and your counselor will determine the number of days per week recommended for programming and the length of time recommended for the program.

Continuum-of-Care

Continuum-of-Care is key to the recovery process for all individuals living with mental health and/or continued recovery from addictive issues. Our therapists/counselors start discharge plans at the time of treatment. The mission is to document that “goals” have been set and managed during the treatment process.
